OptoDrum is a
fully automatic eye movement system. The mouse is placed on the platform and
OptoDrum displays slowly rotating black and white stripes. The behavior of the
mouse will be recorded by a video camera. The software will judge whether the
mouse follows the choice of stripes and perform corresponding head movements.
The pattern of stripes will adjust over time (which becomes more difficult for
mice to find, such as reducing the contrast) until the mouse no longer exhibits
visual reflexes. Experimental animals do not need training, users only need
very limited training, very easy to use.
